Lion Dance

Lion Dance - Lion Dance is a colourful part of Chinese culture and martial arts. Traditionally, the lion was believed to be sent by the gods, bringing good luck wherever it went. Lion Dance is often seen during times of celebration such as Grand Openings, the Lunar New Year, Weddings, Birthdays, and other special occasions.

Students will have a chance to perform and compete in this artistic and acrobatic art. Lion Dance promotes interpersonal skills such as team work, leadership, analytical thinking, and confidence.

Our school practices several styles of Lion Dance, each one expressing the dance in a unique way.

Lion dance students learn all three styles of Lion Dance including:

  • Traditional Fut Shan (Fo Shan) – expressing Kung Fu movements
  • Traditional Hok San – Internationally recognized and known for its playfulness
  • Traditional Chow Gar – expressing Kung Fu movements
